Kingsport, TN — Gus Edward Carter, 74 entered into rest October 2, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, VA on February 19, 1933 to the late Johnny Ted and Sarah Elizabeth Rhoton Carter. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Beaulah Faye Carter
Mr. Carter retired from JP Stevens.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Carter, Kingsport, TN; two sisters and brother -in-law, Peggy and Harold Roach, Hallie and Vernon Kern, all of Rye Cove, VA; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Kathleen Carter, Edison, TN, Bruce and Nancy Carter, Rye Cove, VA, Ted and Linda Carter, Kingsport, TN; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Bill, Nickels, kingsport, TN, Patricia Lane, Kingsport, TN, Marie and Frank Mastin, FL; brothers-in-law, Bill Flanary, Kingsport, TN and Bud Moore, Mt. Carmel, TN; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Shannon Powers and Pastor Randy Perciful officiating. Music will be provided by the Tipton Family.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007 at Morrison Cemetery, in the Rye Cove Community. The family will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be brothers-in-law and nephews.
