Charles H. "Chuck" Carter, Jr. – Elizabethton, TN
Charles H. "Chuck" Carter, Jr., 43, Elizabethton, TN, and formerly of Scott County, VA, went to sleep quietly and God took him home after a long hard battle with cancer.
Chuck was born in Sullivan County, TN on March 29, 1967, the son of Nancy Carter and the late Charles H. Carter, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Desert Shield and Desert Storm with the 1033rd Transportation Unit, Virginia National Guard, Gate City, VA.
Surviving is his wife, Suzanne Carter, Elizabethton, TN; mother, Nancy Carter, Gate City, VA; sisters, Donna Wright and husband, Elmer, Edison, TN, and Sharon Phillips and husband, Keith, Fall Branch, TN; step-daughters, Alice Peters, Crystal Sexton and husband, William, and Lindsay Perry and fiancé, Bill Grant; step-grandchildren, Little Will, Ryan, Paige, Morgan, and Shye; nieces, Jennifer Ramey, Kingsport, TN and Julie Presley, Fall Branch, TN; nephews, Richard Wright, Edison, TN, Joshua Williams and wife, Savannah, Hiltons, VA, Lukas Presley, Gray, TN, and Daniel Presley, Kingsport, TN, along with two very special little people, Cayne Williams and Keely Bear.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and any time at his mother's residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Hensley and Elder J.E. Mauk officiating. J.E. Mauk and wife, Carol will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at the V.A. National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 of Kingsport and #265 of Gate City, VA, assisted by the Tennessee National Guard. Tony Roberts, Travis White, Joshua Williams, Daniel Presley, William Sexton, and Bill Grant will serve as pallbearers. Mike Gilliam, David Dockery, Dennis Dockery, and Lukas Presley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
