Lucille Elliott Carico, 89, Gate City, VA passed away, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at her residence.
Lucille was born in Scott County, VA on May 17, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Steve and Lucy Guilkey Elliott.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Clyde M. Carico; sisters ,Eileen McConnell, Clarice Clark, and Nina Quillen; and brothers, Charles, Fred, and Howard Elliott preceded her in death.
Mrs. Carico was one of the co-founders and a long time member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church, where she loved to cook for church functions.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice K. Smith and husband, Jim, Gate City, VA; son, Roger Carico and wife, Diana, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Rhonda Gillenwater and husband, Tony, Amy Reid and husband, Scott, Jamie Smith, Shannon Carico and wife, Angie, Kayla Carico; and Willie Meade; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; brother, Don Elliott and wife, Norma, Longwood, FL; special niece, Lois Keebler; along with several other nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Janice Smith in the Midway community. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Aaron Edens officiating. Edens Trio and Chris Holder and Journey Home will be providing the music.
The burial will follow at the Craft Cemetery, Alley Valley. Grandsons and Great Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Great Great Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to convey their special thanks to her caregiver Debbie Spencer for her love and support.
