Terry D. Calhoun – Gate City, VA
Terry D. Calhoun, 57, Gate City, VA passed away, Saturday, May 23, 2015 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
Terry was born in Sullivan County, TN on December 22, 1957, son of the late James “Jimbo” and Mary Belle Pierson Calhoun.
Terry loved his God, family, and hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, his sons, Craig and Brandon Calhoun; sister, Mary Ann Calhoun; sister-in-law, Teresa Calhoun and brother-in-law, Carl Frazier preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Calhoun; the mother of his children, Robin Jessee; son, Travis Calhoun and wife, Danielle; grandchildren, Shania and Hunter Calhoun; great granddaughter, Elaina; step children, Kevin Davis, Amanda Fox, Sara Morrison, and Staci Smith; step grandchildren, Brianna Smith, Noah Fox, Jocelyn Fox, Casey Morrison, Chelsea Morrison, Holley Morrison, Gabriel Morrison, and Dalton Morrison; sisters, Ruby Williams, Kaye Frazier, Kathy Lane and husband, Mathew, Janice Falin and husband, Benny; brothers, Rufus Walters and wife, Rita, Jimmy Calhoun and wife, Norma, Ricky Calhoun and wife, Kathy; Jonathan Delp, who was like a son to him; his very special friend, Amy Greenwell; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Nottingham United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in the sanctuary of Nottingham United Methodist Church with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley, Rev. Riley Boye, and Rev. Bill Porter officiating.
Burial will follow the service at the Terry Calhoun Cemetery, in the Speers Ferry community of Gate City, VA. His nephews, Billy Robinson, Jason Lane, Landon Robinson, Alan Falin, Steven Falin, and Michael Calhoun will serve as pallbearers. Terry’s coon hunting buddies will serve as honorary pallbearers.
