Lotus Hackler Butler, 77, Duffield, VA went Home to be with her Lord, Friday, December 7, 2012.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to cook, quilt, and spend time with her family and friends. She was the secretary at Rye Cove Intermediate School for many years.
She was a member of Stanleytown Community Church and song leader for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Crawford and Ova Hackler; grandson, Joshua Butler; two brothers, Leo and Dude Hackler; and a sister, Tania Egan.
Lotus is survived by her husband of 58 years, George Butler, Duffield, VA; daughter, Janice Triplett and husband, Ron, Clintwood, VA; son, Jeff Butler and wife, Denna, Lenoir City, TN; granddaughter, Summer Pierce and husband, Jason, Raeford, NC; great grandson, Cole Pierce, who was the joy of her life; sister, Mozelle Carter, Duffield, VA; brothers, Max Hackler and wife, Joan, Kingsport, TN and Howell Hackler and wife, Christine, Miamiville, OH; brother-in-law, Lyle Egan, Kingsport, TN; sisters-in-law, Loraine Hacker, Kingsport, TN and Sue Hackler, Johnson City, TN; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family of Lotus will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A celebration service of her life will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Junior Davis officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Duffield Fire and Rescue at P.O. Box 295, Duffield, VA.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Charlene Grigsby, Betty Gambrell and staff at Clinchfield Family Medicine for their love and compassion during her illness.
