June Anderson Butler
Ft. Blackmore, VA ? June Anderson Butler, 73, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
She was the daughter of the late Howard and Vernie (Pierson) Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John (JC) Butler; her son, John Howard (Johnny) Butler; three brothers, Odell, Elmo and JD Anderson.
Mrs. Butler was a faithful member of the Ft. Blackmore United Methodist Church, where she was always available to serve her church and her church family. She was also a lifelong resident of Ft. Blackmore, VA.
Ms. June as she was fondly known by children and parents alike, served as a secretary at both the Dungannon and Ft. Blackmore Schools. Later she worked in the Cafeteria at the Ft. Blackmore School. She was especially proud when the 2006 School Year Book was dedicated in her honor. Ms. June was a regular volunteer at the Ft. Blackmore Methodist Church Camp, dedication long summer hours to the feeding and loving of the children of the area. Ms. June never met a child she did not love.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jane and Tim Kestner, Kingsport, TN, Janet and Ed Jennings, Duffield, VA, Robin and Lee Evans, Mt. Carmel, TN; grandchildren, Beth Harkleroad and husband, Keith, Jamie Butler and wife, Heather, Brandy Rhoton and husband, Scottie, Candice Perry and husband, James, Sarah McConnell and husband, Seth, and Amanda Templeton; great grandchildren, Clay Harkleroad, Bailey Butler, Maddie Butler, Hunter Rhoton, Skylar Rhoton and a new baby due in October. She is also survived by two sisters and brother-in-law, Olene Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Sylvia and L.W. "Red" Salling, Ft. Blackmore, VA; sister-in-law, Marie Anderson, Ft. Blackmore, VA; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends whom she cared about dearly.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence and friends may call at the families home anytime. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ed Blair, Rev. L.W. "Red" Salling and Pastor Phil Kestner officiating. Music will be provided by the Ft. Blackmore United Methodist Church Choir and Soloist Sue Rentfrow.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Pierson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be family members.
