Garland Willard Butler, 74, Duffield, VA passed away, Friday, March 21, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Butler was born in Scott County, VA on January 5, 1940 to the late Epylee Butler. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
He was retired from VIC Iron and Coal.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his mother, his step father, Thomas Falin preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Sue Butler, Duffield, VA; daughter, Tammy Jarrett and husband, Lynn, Church Hill, TN; sons, Jeff Butler, Duffield, VA, Stephen Butler and wife, Linda, Pennington Gap, VA, and Brandon Butler and wife, Cassie, Duffield, VA; grandchild, Destiny Butler; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Gate County Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial with Rev. Fred White officiating. Lawrence Winstead and Cora and Kevin Horne will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Ronnie Butler, Greg Hurd, Jacob Spratlin, John Spratlin, and Jeremy Nash will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
