Judy was born July 29, 1960 in Kingsport, TN., to the late Maggielene (Maggie) Gillenwater Mathes. In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by a niece, Brandy Stanley and a nephew, Teddy Quillen. Surviving are her children, Tiffany Nichol Burton of Nickelsville, VA and a son, Todd Allen Mathes of Greenville, TN. Her father, Robert Lee Mathes of Ft. Blackmore, VA. Step children, Crystal Burton of Weber City, VA., Michael Burton of Nickelsville, VA., Brothers, Rod and wife, Kim Mathes of Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Houston Mathes of Georgia. Sisters, Sudie Quillen and husband, Odell of Ft. Blackmore, VA., Jonnie Brickey and husband, Bill of Ft. Blackmore, VA., Jeannie Perry and husband, Dale of Dungannon, VA. Dotty Summie and husband, Bobby of Jonesborough, TN. Barbara Stanley and husband Farrell of Duffield, VA. Along with several nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving family and friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Valley Creek Church, Ft.Blackmore, VA. Or any time at the homes of the immediate family. Services will be conducted by Pastor John Reed at 7:00 p.m. in the church chapel. Music will be provided by The Three C's in Christ. Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 at Gillenwater Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. The family will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. at the church to go in procession to the cemetery. Freddie Brickey, Darroll Lane, Charles Hensley, Jr., Travis Perry, Jody Perry, Brian Keith and Cody Quillen will serve as pallbearers. Bill Brickey, Odell Quillen, Farrell Stanley and Dale Perry will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to give special thanks to, Melissa, Stacy, Kim, Cindy and Vonda,Travis, Linda and Les Horne and the Monarch Manor. Also thanks to the doctors and staff at the Johnson City Medical Center. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Gate City Funeral Home.
