Glen "Cucumber" Burton, 56, Dungannon, VA passed away, Thursday, March 25, 2010 at this residence.
Mr. Burton was born in Scott County, VA on October 1, 1953, a son of the late Clarence and Delle Mitchell Burton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mandy E. Burton, step-daughter, Kathy M. Spears (1998), and one brother, Junior Lee Burton.
Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida and Billy Finch, Nickelsville, VA, Lou and Ray Finch, Dungannon, VA, and Edith and David Darnell, Gate City, VA, brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Burton, Nickelsville, VA, Jim Burton, Nickelsville, VA, Bobby Burton and wife, Ann, Nickelsville, VA, Willard Burton and wife, Juanita, Nickelsville, VA, Eugene Burton and wife, Wanda, Dungannon, VA, Lee Burton, Dungannon, VA, and Fred Burton and wife, Theresa, Duffield, VA, step-grandson, Daniel Spears; special friend, Terry Pruitt; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times as the residence of his sister, Lou Finch. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Collins and the Rev. G.W. White officiating. Music will be provided by David and Debbie Easterling.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2010, at the Dean Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Dean Cemetery at 1:45 p.m. for the graveside service.
Daniel Spears, Ernie Finch, Buck Finch, Jim Burton, Tommy Finch, Luke Finch and Jarred Finch will serve as pallbearers.
David Darnell, William Finch, Bobby Joe Finch, Roger Finch and Jared Finch will serve as honorary pallbearers.
