Jim “Wildman” Burton – Nickelsville, VA
Curtis James (Jim) “Wildman” Burton, 62 Nickelsville, VA passed away, Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Jim was born in Scott County, VA on March 18, 1952 to the late Clarence and Dell Mitchell Burton.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, Eugene, George, and Glen Burton preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sisters, Ida Finch and husband, Bill, Nickelsville, VA; Edith Darnell and husband, Dave, Gate City, VA; and Louise Finch and husband, Ray, Dungannon, VA; brothers, Bobby Burton and wife, Ann, Nickelsville, VA, Bill Burton, Nickelsville, VA, Willard Burton and wife, Juanita, Nickelsville, VA, Lee Burton, Dungannon, VA, and Freddy Burton and wife, Teresa, Duffield, VA; his special cousin, Brenda Sluss and husband, Roger, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Greg and Becky White will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Grassy Creek Cemetery, Castlewood, VA. Terry Meade, Jerry Meade, Johnny Salyers, John Meade, Charles “Peanut” Ramsey, and Landon Odle will serve as pallbearers. Luke Finch, Daniel Sluss, and Nathan Sluss will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family would like to give thanks to Roger and Brenda Sluss for their care they provided to Jim.
