Jeff Burke – Gate City, VA

Jeffery Scott Burke, 57, Gate City, VA was reunited with many of his favorite people on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 after a brave battle with multiple types of cancer. He never let his illness get him down and remained a warrior until the end.

Jeff, born on August 3, 1959, was a devoted family man, former auto parts counter man, and an awesome drummer. He knew that he had a lot to go to Heaven for but he did not want to leave his family. Jeff enjoyed music, movies, television, trips to Pigeon Forge and the beach, video games, and playing with the family pets. He was also very fond of mowing his lawn.

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Buford Burke, mother, Faye Byrd, sister, Anita Bragg and her husband, Harpo, brother, Jerry Burke, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Surviving with broken hearts are his bride of 32 years, Pam, his daughters, Allison and Jessica, who were his pride and joy, his brother, Mark, his sister, Melissa, all of Gate City and his sister-in-law, Jan and her husband Rick, of Stuttgart. Jeff loved his nephews and nieces, Scott, Nathan, Nikki, Andy, Shannon, and Mary Susan and his great nephews and niece, who provided him with much joy. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mark's girlfriend, Selena and Melissa's fiancee, Chuck, were also close to Jeff's heart.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 on November 26 at the Byrd Family Cemetery, 192 Geranium Drive, East Carters Valley community of Gate City, VA.

A celebration of life will follow at Estillville Bed and Breakfast, 128 Park St., Gate City, VA. Please be prepared to share memories of Jeff at the celebration, listen to some of his favorite music and enjoy a light dinner.

The Burke family would like to thank Steve Adkins of HMG and all the wonderful doctors and nurses at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
