Jeanette Buchanan, 90, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Friday, December 30, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Buchanan was born in Scott County, VA on October 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Sherman and Orpha Kilgore Hartsock.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Roy C. Buchanan; son-in-law, Glenn Vicars; sisters, Maude Addington and Jean Ratliff; and brothers, J.C., Joe, and Carl Hartsock preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughter, Shirley Vicars, Nickelsville, VA; sons, Lowell Buchanan and wife, Ara, Kingsport, TN and Bill Buchanan and wife, Lorraine, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, David, Daniel, Melissa, Sara, Angela and DeShea; great grandchildren, Jessica and Grace; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Shirley Vicars. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Eddie Taylor officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the Addington Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Gregory DeMotts and staff, Tony Street and Broadwater Drug, nursing staff of the 6th floor at Wellmont, Holston Valley, Advanced Home Health Care, and all who have been such a help to the Buchanan Family during her extended illness, for their love and care of Mrs. Buchanan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Greenwood Chapel Church, in care of Rev. Eddie Taylor.
