Ernest Aaron Browning – Duffield, VA
Ernest Aaron Browning, 89, passed from Earth to Heaven on Friday, March 16, 2018 at his home in Duffield, VA with his family at his side.
He was born on December 4, 1928 in Burdine, Kentucky. He was a retired coal miner.
Ernest was preceded in death by his father, Rosseville Browning and his mother, Effie Cox Browning. Also, three brothers, Ray Browning, Haskel Browning and J. L. Browning. His sisters, Helen Fleming and Della Lantz.
He is survived by his loving companion of 43 years, Kathleen Adkins; sons, Roger (Rosemary) Browning of Appalachia, VA, Richard (Jennifer) Browning, Norton, VA, Mitchell Browning, Norton, VA, Hugh (Pam) Adkins of Atoka, TN, and Joey Adkins of Duffield, VA; daughters, Sandra (Larry) Wilson of Appalachia, VA and Sharon Browning of Bristol, VA; grandchildren, Joseph (Christine) McFarland, Jonathan (Beth) Browning, Lynea (Mike) Murphy, Jessica (Chad) Counts, and Candance Samons; great-grandchildren, Riley McFarland, Waylen Browning, Adalay Grace Browning, Aislyn Murphy, Benjamin Murphy, Sebastian Counts, Cassian Counts, and Kiri Counts; sisters, Christine Sykes of Pound, VA, Annette Stallard of Clintwood, VA, and Eva (Don) Hawkins of Clintwood, VA; brother, Emory (Connie) Browning of Clintwood, VA; special family member and friend, Barbara Ashworth; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lots of wonderful friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Tony Nunley officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Temple Hill Cemetery in Castlewood, VA. Richard Brooks, Jonathan Browning, Richard Browning, Mitchell Browning, Greg Rhoton, and Waylen Browning will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Browning, Hugh Adkins, and Joey Adkins.
The family wishes to thank everyone for the food, phone calls and prayers. We especially want to thank Hospice nurses, Hope, Crystal, Freda, and James for the wonderful care they gave to our love one.
