Diana “Johnny” Brickey – Ft. Blackmore, VA
Diana ”Johnny“ Brickey, 65, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Sunday, July 27, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Brickey was born in Erwin, TN on December 8, 1948, the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Maggielene Gillenwater Mathes.
In addition to her parents, her sister, Judy Burton preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Brickey, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughter, Melissa Maya and Luis, Midway, VA; son, Freddy Wayne Brickey and wife, Connie, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Sarah Robinette and husband, Derick, Louis Maya, and Johnathan Wayne Brickey; great granddaughters, Arielle and Amberly Robinette; sisters, Patricia Sue Quillen and husband, Odell, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Jeannie Perry and husband, Dale, Dungannon, VA, Dorothy “Dottie” Summey, Nickelsville, VA, and Barbara Stanley and husband, Farrell, Duffield, VA; brothers, Bobby Huston Mathes, Weber City, VA and Rod Mathes, Ft. Blackmore, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Todd Cassell officiating. Second Coming will provide the music.
Graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the Brickey Family Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Billy Begley, Tim Mathes, Jody Perry, Travis Perry, Farrell Stanley, and Jackie Laney will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
We want to thank friends, family, and neighbors for the prayers, food, flowers, and monetary gifts. A special thanks to Dr. Todd Cassell, Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Second Coming, and Valley Creek Baptist Church for taking great care of Diana.
