Billy “Darrel” Brickey, 78, Kingsport, TN passed away, Monday, October 6, 2014 at Brookhaven Manor, Kingsport, TN.
Mr. Brickey was born in Scott County, VA on April 30, 1936 to the late Otis and Viola Dockery Brickey.
In addition to his parents, his step-son, David Strong; step great grandson, Marcus Brummitte and one sister preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving partner, Margaret E. Strong, Kingsport, TN; daughters, Billy Lynn Brickey Darnell and husband, Hubert, Gate City, VA, and Cindy Brickey Hudson and husband, Darl, Lynchburg, VA; step children, Bruce Junior Strong and wife, Patsy, Kingsport, TN, Leda Clark and husband, Roger, Gate City, VA, Linda Jessee and husband, Roger, Duffield. VA; half sister, Marie Paris; grandchildren, Will, Holly, Eleah and Tatum; great grandchildren, Jasper and Zoe; step grandchildren, Melissa Strong, Jason Clark, Tyler Strong Jones, Miranda Jessee, Jeana Brummitte; step great grandchildren, Alyssa and Justin Clark, Jayden and Braxton Brummitte, Maycee and Bailey Baker. Special niece and caregiver, Margaret Good.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Otto Gibson officiating. Anthony and Melissa will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the VA Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN by the American Legion Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post#265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Trent Smith, Roger Jessee, Christopher Brummitte and Bruce Strong, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
