Mrs. Mae Etta Bowman, 89, Yuma, VA passed away, Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Bowman was born in Scott County, VA on April 29, 1922, a daughter of the late William and Rebecca Wood Wheatley.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Ralph J. Bowman preceded her in death on November 2, 2010. An infant daughter, Betty Lou Bowman, infant great granddaughter, Hailey Lipe; sisters, Dorothy Crawford and Virginia Harris; and brothers, Henry, Stewart, Lavern, John, and Gene Wheatley also preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughter, Frances Lipe, Yuma, VA; grandchildren, Donna Sloan and husband, Mike, Dwayne Lipe, Doug Lipe and wife, Regina, and Darla Lipe; great grandchildren, Josh Sloan, Matthew Lundy, Kaitlyn Sloan, Shy McGinnis, and Mia Lipe.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other time at the residence of her daughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. George Winegar officiating.Salley's Chapel Singers will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Dwayne Lipe, Doug Lipe, Darla Lipe, Mike Sloan, Joshua Sloan, and Matthew Lundy will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, to go in procession to the graveside service.
