Thelma Jean Bowen, 70, Duffield, VA passed away, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Lonesome Pine Medical Center.
Thelma was born in Scott County, VA on March 29, 1944, daughter of the late Corbett and Virgie Shortt Bowen.
In addition to her parents, her sister, Mary Kathleen Bowen, and brothers, Kyle Lester Bowen and Hurley Bowen preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Ann Griffin, Gate City, VA; nephew, Charles Griffin and wife, Susan, Ft. Blackmore, VA; and great nephew, Michael Griffin, Ft. Blackmore, VA.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Fred Gillenwater officiating. Cecil Kern will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014 the McKinney/Carter Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
