Sally Lou Bowen, 74, passed away at her residence, Thursday, May 30, 2012 at Asbury Place in Kingsport, TN after a lengthy illness.

She was born January 1, 1938 in Clinchport, Virginia. Sally graduated from Shoemaker High School in 1955 and Spencer Business College in New Orleans, LA. She worked for a while at Shell Oil in New Orleans before returning to Weber City, VA and going to work for Eastman Kodak. She retired in 1994 for health reasons after a lengthy service.

She was a longtime member of Holston View United Methodist Church, Weber City, VA where she attended regularly until her illness of MS prevented her attendance.

Sally was the seventh of nine children born to Charles R. and Gaye Bond Bowen. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, John E. and Ethel Chesser Bowen, William W. and Sallie Hillman Bond; sisters, Peggy Bowen and Phyllis J Bell and husband, Judge C.; brothers, Charles Robert, John William, James Arthur, and a niece, Theresa Bowen Stacy.

She is survived by her sister, Linda B. Milton and husband, William B., Kingsport, TN; brothers, Gerald C. Bowen and wife, Sibyl S., Fairborn, OH, Paul K. Bowen and wife, Glenna B., Kingsport, TN; sisters-in-law, Betty Sword Bowen, Kingsport, TN and Nettie McDavid Bowen, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 2:30 to4:00 p.m. at Holston View United Methodist Church, Weber City, VA. A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Holston View United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Hanshew officiating.

Burial of her Cremains will follow the service in the Bond/Bowen Cemetery in Rye Cove, VA.
A special thanks to the staff of Asbury Place in Kingsport for the loving and tender care they gave to Sally during the past years of her residence there and also to Brenda Parker, Carol Nelson, and Elizabeth Foutch for the care they provided prior to Sally's residence at Asbury Place.

The family requests that memorials be made to Holston View United Methodist Church, 174 Church Street, Weber City, VA 24290 or to the charity of one's choice in loving memory of Sally Lou Bowen.
