Johnny Bowen – Duffield, VA
Johnny Bowen, 64, Duffield, VA passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 surrounded by his family, at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, TN.
Johnny was born in June of 1954 to the late Willie Reece and Ella Margaret Jessee Bowen.
In addition to his parents, his infant brothers, James and Alonzo preceded him in death.
Johnny retired from Coca- Cola in Norton after many years. He recently started driving a school bus for the Scott County School System and he truly loved the kids on his bus route.
He is survived by his daughter, Kassondra Lawson and husband, Jon, Duffield, VA; sons, Ethan Bowen, Duffield, VA, Jonathan Bowen and wife, Megan, Gate City, VA; sisters, Nancy Bowen, Duffield, VA, Lena Chesser, Duffield, VA, Janet Tignor, Duffield, VA, Barbara Jennings and husband, Junior, Duffield, VA; brother, Elmer “Hub” Bowen and wife, Edna, Duffield, VA; 2 grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at Gate City Funeral Home on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Hensley and Brother Jacob Horton officiating. Durhams Chapel Quartet will provide the music.
The graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Jessee Cemetery, Cliff Mountain community, Duffield, VA at 2:00 p.m. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, all donations will be made to Duffield Primary School Snack Fund in care of Patricia Nash, 663 Duff Patt Hwy, Duffield, VA 24244.
