Cecil “Johnny” Bowen – Duffield, VA

Cecil C. “Johnny” Bowen, 90, Duffield, VA passed away, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Johnny was born in Scott County, VA on June 6, 1924 and was the son of the late Lark Howard and Anna Lou Griffin Bowen.
He was the owner and operator for 63 years of L.H. Bowen &Son, in the Speers Ferry community of Duffield, VA, from 1947-2010.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Mildred Kiser and brothers, Howard, Carl, Herbert, and Bronson Bowen preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Miller Bowen, Duffield, VA; son, Michael Bowen, Kingsport, TN; grandsons, Brandon and Blake Bowen, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral with Larry Winegar and Rev. Ed Blair officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Roy and James Palmer will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
