N. Darrel Bolling, 87, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born December 2, 1923 in Flat Gap, VA to Jesse O. and Della Kilgore Bolling.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Nationwide Insurance with 43 years experience as both sales manager and an agent. He was a charter member of Community Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a founding member of the Scott County Camp of Gideons International.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Kyle Bolling and Paul Bolling; and sister, Thelma Shortt.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hampton Bolling, Gate City, VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Glenn McMurray, Hiltons, and Luanne and Eric McMurray, Gate City; grandchildren, Joshua and Colleen McMurray, Matt and Melanie McMurray, Taylor Clark and fiancée, Catherine Jones, Zachary Clark, and Megan and John Scheiman; great grandchildren, Shane Alessi, Elijah McMurray, Elan McMurray, and Jackson Scheiman; siblings, Chester and Ina Bolling, Castlewood, VA, and Betty and Frank Brown, Caledonia, Ontario; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Community Fellowship Baptist Church and other times at the residence. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church with Dr. Bob D. Lynch and the Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating. Eric McMurray and Judy McConnell will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2011 on the McMurray Farm at 639 McMurray Hollow Road, Hiltons, VA. Grandsons and Sons-In-Law will serve as pallbearers. Deacons of Community Fellowship Baptist Church and members of the Scott County Gideons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at Noon to proceed to the gravesite.
