Issac "Shorty" Boggs – Ft. Blackmore, VA

Issac Richard "Shorty" Boggs, 78, Ft. Blackmore, VA entered into rest Friday, October 16, 2009 at Lee County Community Hospital, Pennington Gap, VA.

Mr. Boggs was born in Kentucky on June 10, 1931, a son of the late Silas and Lizzie Woods Boggs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Boggs, son-in-law, Otis Vaughan, brothers, Paul Boggs and J.P. Boggs, and sisters, Clora Ball and Inez Boggs.

Surviving Mr. Boggs is his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Eva Mae Boggs, Hill Station, VA; sons, Robert Boggs, Dumas, TX, William "Bill" Boggs, Gate City, VA, Sherman Boggs and wife, Sandra, Ft.Blackmore, VA, and Jessey Boggs, Gate City, VA; daughters, Billie Jean Greene and husband, John, Kingsport, TN, Debbra Pace and Charlie, Ewing, VA, Ruby Statzer, Duffield, VA, Sarah Lane and husband, Dennis, Gate City, VA, and Clora Vaughan, Big Stone Gap, VA; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara McKinney, Johnson City, TN, Shirley Lawson, Dryden, VA, and Rena Crawford, Woodway, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Jay Snavely officiating. Jack and Shelby Owens will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12 Noon, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Carter Cemetery, Slant, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
