Ella Mae Bloomer, 78, Duffield
Ella Mae Bloomer, 78, of Duffield, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at her residence following a brief battle with lung cancer.
Ella Mae was born on June 4, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Bonnie Roberts Lane. She was a kind and outgoing person who never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her family, friends and enjoyed working in her flowers. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Bloomer; son, George Bloomer; daughter, Joyce Baldwin; brother, T.M. Lane; grandson Scotty Barnette;
great-granddaughter Aubree Tate; and great-grandson, Allan Gilliam.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris Sloan; sons, Bob Bloomer and wife, Patricia; Don Bloomer and wife, Patricia; brother, Larry Roberts and wife Anita; grandchildren, Amanda Tate and husband Andy, Douglas Lawson, Bobby Darnell, Chris Darnell, Amanda Flores, George Bloomer, Jr. and wife Lisa, Pam Gilliam and husband Jerry, and Mitchell Vaughn; 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, December 1, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neely and Pastor Kevin Vincent officiating. Music will be provided by Andy Tate, Aaron Tate & Cody Vaughn.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Lane Rhoton Cemetery in Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home no later than 12:00 noon to go in procession to the cemetery.
