Mr. James Shirley Bledsoe, 73, Blackwater, VA passed away, Monday, October 17, 2011 at Lee County Memorial, Pennington Gap, VA after a brief illness.
Mr. Bledsoe was born in Scott County, VA on November 5, 1937, the son of the late Cardes and Della Magnolia Scalf Bledsoe. He was a born again Christian and was of the Baptist faith and attended Locus Grove Church, Blackwater, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Christina McNutt and May Bledsoe; and brothers, Loyd Bledsoe and Eugene Bledsoe.
Surviving are his sisters, Jearldine Hammonds, Gate City, VA, Gladine Gibson, Gate City, VA, Sue Bledsoe, Duffield, VA; brothers, George Bledsoe and wife, Thelma, Blackwater, VA; Ray Bledsoe, Kingsport, TN, and Lynn Bledsoe, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Burke/Bledsoe Cemetery conducted by Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Rev. Ray Bledsoe.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
