Elmer Ray Bledsoe, 80, Duffield, VA passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, VA.
Mr. Bledsoe was born in Scott County, VA on April 20, 1931 to the late Cart and Cora Tyler Bledsoe. He was retired from Norris Industries and was a lifelong farmer and gardener. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Red Hill Church. Elmer will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Edna Bledsoe; sisters, Dorothy Rudd and Kate Burke; and brothers, Jack, Arthur, Harley, and Roy Bledsoe preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue Poteet, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Tonya Poteet and fiancé, Mikey Amburgey, Johnson City, TN and Candyce Poteet Taylor and husband, Joe Johnson City, TN; sister, Betty Tomlinson, Dayton, OH; and brother, Wade Bledsoe, Duffield, VA.
In keeping with Mr. Bledsoe's wishes, his body was cremated.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Garry Hood will provide the music.
