Gate City, VA ? Helen Jean Blanton, 72, entered into rest Sunday, June 1, 2008 at her residence, she fought a courageous battle with cancer and won.
She was born in Kentucky October 7, 1935 to the late Sherman and Janie Prater Conley. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Blanton; son, Paul Edward Blanton; three brothers, Ishmel, Ernie and Hartford Conley.
Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Tom Plaster, Patty Earnest, Brenda and Tim Pruner, Elda and Dick Shoup; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kay Blanton and Mike Blanton; three sisters and brother-in-law, Norsie Blanton, Dorothy Blanton and Delphia and Charles Smith; sixteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; very special friend, Donnie Graham. several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. George Willis, Jr., and Rev. Coy Butler officiating. Music will be provided by Pine Grove Harmony, Travis and Marsha Barnett.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Conley Cemetery, Salyersville, KY. The family will meet at the cemetery for graveside services.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Gate City Funeral Home is serving the Blanton family.
