Lola Inez Blair, 86, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, November 23, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Blair was born in Scott County, VA on November 12, 1926 to the late George Hiram and Lakie Annis Moore Davidson.
She and her late husband, Earl operated Blair's General Store for over 40 years. She loved travel and traveled extensively throughout the United States. She was an active member of Midway Baptist Church for 46 years, where she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Inez dearly loved her church family. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Inez was devoted to her children and so loved her precious granddaughters. They were the apple of her eye.
She has graced her family with boundless and unending love, kindness, and a great joy for living. She always demonstrated quiet and enduring faith and was a beautiful example of God's love and grace.
She will be remembered as an amazing woman, mother, and grandmother who impacted her family and many friends in immeasurable ways. All were blessed to know and love her.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Earl Stuart Blair; sister, Trula Lacher; and brothers, Kermit and Kelly Davidson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Diana Blair, Gate City, VA and Teresa Blair Varney and husband, Doug, Kingsport, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cindy Blair, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Erin Blair, Olivia Blair, Lauren Varney Plunk and husband, Jared, and Leandra Varney; step granddaughter, Emilie Varney Robinette and husband, Steve; step great granddaughter, Harper Elizabeth Robinette; sister, Faye Charchan, Mechanicsville, PA; brother-in-law, Al Lacher, Clearwater, FL; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. George Willis officiating. Marsha and Travis Barnett and Doug Varney, Ron Alison, and Don Varney will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Midway Community Cemetery in the Midway Community of Scott County, VA. Roger Blair, Dwight Lane, Gray Pierson, Gary Lark, Doug Varney, and Jay Gillenwater will serve as pallbearers. Scott Gillenwater, Clyde Gillenwater, Rick Hammonds, Don Varney, and Al Lacher will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 1403 Midway Rd. Gate City, Va. or American Cancer Society.
