Allie Fair (Granny) Blair, 77, of Gate City VA, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Fair Blair was a lifelong resident of Scott County, VA born on June 10, 1935 to the late Lawrence Lee and Bower Renda Williams Frazier. She was of the Baptist faith and was a charter member of Moore's Memorial Church.
She worked for the Scott County School System and retired from the Brian Center as a cook. Her hobbies were camping on the Clinch River, gardening, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Fair Blair is preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Frazier Deaver, Mary Dell Frazier Tunnell, Willie Ruth Quillen, Maggie Frazier Tipton, Ima Jean Frazier, Shirley Frazier Oaks; and her brother, Henry Frazier.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years Earnest Blair of Gate City, VA; daughters, Phyllis Nelson and husband, David, Pamela Hutchins and husband, Leroy, Robin Amburgey and husband, Bobby; son, Earnest Christopher (Chris) Blair and friend, Jessica Little; sister, Nancy Jane Ketron and friend, David Blare; grandchildren, Angela Free and husband, Donny, Martha Amburgey, Nick Amburgey, Justin Quillen, Cody Blair, Paige Blair, Brooke Blair, and Justin Blair; great grandchildren, Jeremy Free and Camryn Free, and Lilly Ann Amburgey; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Arthur Collins. Kenneth Davis, Kim Blair, Becky, and Carrie will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Strong Cemetery, Gate City, VA. Jeremy Free, Justin Quillen, Dakota Pearcy, Bill Pearcy, Jeff Oaks, Mike Oaks, and Phil Tipton will serve as pallbearers. Justin Blair, Cody Blair, Ernie Oaks, and Bobby Oaks will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
