Larry Bishop, 69, Church Hill, TN passed away, Sunday, August 5, 2018 at NHC Healthcare, Kingsport, TN.
Larry was born in Scott County, VA on December 28, 1948, and was the son of the late William Floyd and Myrtle Rose (McDavid) Bishop.
In addition to his parents, his sister, Shirley Ann Deel and brothers, William Harold “Bud” and Carroll Bishop preceded him in death.
He was the founding member and a Deacon of Providence Church, Church Hill, TN.
Larry sang with numerous gospel groups throughout the years, the Christianaires, Living Way, and Larry Bishop and New Grace.
He was the song leader at Providence Church.
His voice was heard across the nation.
Surviving is his wife, Wanda Rhea Bishop, Church Hill, TN; daughters, Tessa Frye and husband, Willie, Kingsport, TN and Teresa Spivey and husband, Mickey, Kingsport, TN; sons, Seth Bishop and wife, Tanaya, Kingsport, TN, Keith and Sherry Goode, Clinchport, VA, and Jeff and Robin Goode, Mount Carmel, TN; grandchildren, Shana, Mason, Adrien, Gabe, Clifton, Isabella, Chase, Aria, Makenna and Justin; great grandchildren, Alesyia, Nathaniel, And Dylan; sisters, Anita “Louise” Long, Rogersville, TN, Judy Drier, Yuma, VA, Patricia Bishop, Yuma, VA, Kathy Smith Young, Kingsport, TN, and Karen Qualls and husband, David, Duffield, VA; special nephew, Tim Deel; caregiver, Dennis Rhoton, his friend and brother; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many, many friends near and far.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joe Hill and Rev. Joel Trigg officiating. Rachel Trigg, The Bledsoes, and Brian Birchfield will be providing the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery. Mason Frye and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
