Genola “Joe” Bellamy Bishop – Gate City, VA
Genola “Joe” Ailey Bellamy Bishop, 92, Gate City, VA passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at Brookhaven Manor, Kingsport, TN.
Better known to her friends as “Joe” was born August 16, 1922 in Dickenson County, VA to the late Sherman and Bama Ratliff Bise. She was a well know seamstress as well as a homemaker all her life.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jim Bellamy; her daughter, Jolene Mullins and great grandson, Freel.
Joe is survived by her son, Fred Bellamy and wife, Sherry, Gate City, VA; daughters, Brenda Marshall, Kingsport, TN, Barbara (Bobbie) France and husband, Victor, New Smyrna Beach, FL; grandchildren, Bobby, Tina, Amy, Mindy, Dean, Scott, Denice; great grandchildren, Cody, Caleb, Joseph, Samuel, Ailey, Robert, Daniel, Jessie, Kris, Justin, Courtney, Kendra, Cody, Sam, John; great great grandchildren, Kinsley, Corbin, Charlie and Will.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son. A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m.in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Larry Browder officiating. Grace Stidham will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Cody Bruner, Tony Sampson, Joseph Harless, Ed Bennett, Bobby Harless and Bill Bruner will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and friends at Brookhaven Manor for their love and affection to Mrs. Bishop.
