Charles Hobert "Charlie" Berry, 66, Piney Flats, TN and formerly of Duffield, VA passed away, Monday, January 6, 2014 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, VA.
Charlie was born in Scott County, VA on April 22, 1947 to the late Garrett Hobert and Mary Ruth Gibson Berry. He was retired from VDOT with over thirty years of service.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, Ralph Berry, Floyd Cody Berry, Ed Berry, and Bob Berry; and a special sister-in-law, Barbara Berry preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Loveless and husband, Mickey, Piney Flats, TN; sons, Charles Garrett Berry and wife, Sherri, Bloomingdale and J.D. Berry and wife, Amy, Bloomingdale; grandchildren, Elisha "Nicky" Bowey, Anna Duncan, Heather Richards, Brianna Berry, Tiffany Berry, Jacob Berry, and Maggie Berry; great grandchildren, Logan, Emily, Madyson, Dimitri, Dominic, Cheyenne, Alexis, and Gabriel; brother, John Berry, Duffield, VA; sisters, Shirley Doss, Duffield, VA, Bessie Berry, Duffield, VA, Mae Taylor, Duffield, VA, Dollie Gilliam, Duffield, VA, Della Adams and Doyle Calton, Gate City, VA, Rose Ann Tipton and husband, Ronnie, Gate City, VA, and Bonnie Gibson and husband, Robby, Dungannon, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Nathan Jennings officiating. Nancy Peters and Ronnie Tipton will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Berry Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be in made to the charity of one's choice in the name of Charlie Berry.
The family would like to say a special thank you to all who helped take care of Charlie.
