Savannah Elizabeth Bernard, 13, Gate City, VA (Yuma community), passed away, Thursday, January 2, 2014 at East Tennessee Children's Hospital, Knoxville, TN after a brief illness.
Savannah was born in Kingsport, TN on May 16, 2000 to Eric Scott Bernard and Wendy Stamper Collins.
She is survived by her father, Eric Bernard, Kingsport, TN ; mother, Wendy Collins and husband, Kevin, Gate City, VA; sister, Courtney Bernard, Gate City, VA; brother, Hunter Bernard, Gate City, VA; aunt, Vesta Webb and husband, Donnie, Church Hill, TN; uncles, Justin Meade and wife, Melissa, Nickelsville, VA and Daniel Meade and wife, April, Nickelsville, VA; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Doris Bernard, Kingsport, TN; maternal grandparents, Gilmer and Brenda Meade, Gate City, VA and J. D. and Christine Stamper, Tappahannock, VA; along with several cousins and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dale Gilbert and Rev. Rhonda Hobbs officiating. Jennifer Trent, Kari White, and Diane Estepp will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 6, 2014 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Donnie Webb, Matthew Cox, Daniel Meade, Hunter Bernard, Jerry Stapleton, and Michael Artist will serve as pallbearers. Colton Stapleton and Justin Meade will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
