Donald Lee Benton, 64, Waterford, MI passed away, Friday, November 4, 2011 in Waterford.
Mr. Benton was a State Corrections Officer at Scott Correctional Facility and was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge Aerie #3373 in Clarkston and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to his parents, his son-in-law, Randy Allen and brother-in-law, Gerry Lilly preceded him in death.
Surviving is his loving wife, Sharon McGarvey Benton; children, Margaret Allen, Katie Benton, Richard Benton, John Benton, Carmen Bueno and husband, Juan, Mary Benton, Jeanette Benton, and H. Michael McGarvey, II; grandchildren, Krysten, Matthew, Jason, Alexis, Andrew, Brianna, Kyle, John Paul, Nathan, H. Michael III, Jordan, and Noah; sisters, Sue Lilly, Betty Martin, and Debbie McComber; sister-in-law, Pamela Ray and daughter, Jacky; along with several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2011 at the Riverside Chapel of Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, Waterford, MI.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Benton Cemetery, Gate City, VA. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, DAV Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or to the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674, or to the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, 4217 Park Place Ct., Glen Allen, VA 23060.
