Cara Lucas Begley – Gate City, VA
Cara Janelle Lucas Begley, 80, Gate City, VA passed away, Saturday, April 4, 2015 at NOVA Health and Rehab, Weber City, VA.
Cara was born in Scott County, VA on August 18, 1934, the daughter of the late Roy and Clyde Sweeney Lucas.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Lawrence Begley; sister, Joan Perry; and brothers, Stacy Lucas and Ernest Lucas preceded her in death.
She was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church.
Cara was an avid fan of football, especially the Gate City Blue Devils. Dressed in her blue and white, she with her cowbell, was a fixture for many years at every Gate City football game.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Compton and husband, Gerald, Gate City, VA and Kim Hensley and husband, R.C, Gate City, VA; sons, Ronald Begley, Gate City, VA and Rickey Begley and wife, Leigh Ann, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Paige Hughes, Jessie Clyde Hensley, Tucker Begley, Emmitt Begley, Laura Bledsoe, and Stella Hockett; six great grandchildren; sisters, Deanna Nichols, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Tommie Presley, Gate City, VA, and Margie McNew, Ft. Blackmore, VA
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the Gate City United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Joe Barber officiating. Rick Begley and Friends will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
