Mrs. Barbara NeSmith Bass, 80, Nickelsville, VA passed away, Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Bass was born December 9, 1930 in Florida to the late Elijah Dewey and Annie Lou Marsh NeSmith.
Her husband, Ernest L. Bass, Sr. and a sister, Anne Dingus preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sons, Ernest L. Bass, Jr., and wife, Teresa, Greeneville, TN and Thomas R. Bass and wife, Rita E. Bass, Lithia, FL; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Jimmie Wall and husband, Matt, Yankeetown, FL and Marty Roberts and husband, Billy, Ocala, FL; brother, Jack NeSmith and wife, Jean, Deltona, FL; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1-1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the Juanita S. Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Collins officiating. A eulogy will be given by her son, Thomas R. Bass and her granddaughter, Rebecca Bass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Nickelsville, 11606 Nickelsville Highway, Nickelsville, VA 24271 or Hospice.
