Rosa Lee (Lane) “Granny” Barnette, 85, Duffield, VA passed away, Friday, April 19, 2019 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Rosa was born in Sullivan County, TN on March4, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Ervin Fitzhugh and Laura Elizabeth (Smith) Lane.
She was a hardworking woman, who loved to garden. She loved her flowers, but most of all, she loved her family.
She was most affectionally known to many as “Granny”.
In addition to her parents, her husband, William Bradley Barnette, Jr., granddaughter, Darlene Barnette, sister, Eva Dell Gibson and brother, Herman Frank Lane preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children; daughter, Robin Lane, Duffield, VA; sons, Dean Barnette, Smyrna, GA, Tim and wife, Melinda Barnette, Duffield, VA, and Bill “Chip” Barnette, Smyrna, GA; grandchildren, Billy Lane, Joey Sowards, Brad “Doc” Barnette, T.J. Barnette, Emiley Grace Barnette, Brad Barnette, and B.J. Barnette; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Oliver Lane, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Franklin Cemetery on Purchase Ridge, Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to go in procession to the cemetery are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:00 noon.
