Mr. Barnette was born in Scott County, VA on October 18, 1939. He was the son of the late Denver and Josephine Benton Barnette. Mr. Barnette was a member and deacon of Natural Tunnel Church.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Geneva Wade Barnette, Duffield, VA; daughter, Connie Ann Barnette, Johnson City, TN; brothers, Donald and wife Patsy Barnette, Gray TN, and Dallas Barnette, Limestone, TN; Grandchildren, Haley Nicole Burke, Kingsport, TN; Great-Grandchildren, Jacoby Ray Shaddix Burke, Kingsport, TN, Kylie Ann Chanel Stuart, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Garry Hood, Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Hood Family Singers will provide the music.
Per family’s wishes, burial will be at the Barnette Cemetery and will be held at a later date.
