Ostia Victoria Barber – Church Hill, TN
Ostia Victoria (Strong) Barber, 93, Church Hill, TN passed away, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at her residence.
Born in Scott County, VA on December 24, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Myrtle Josephine Quillin Strong.
In addition to her parents; her husband, Gary Anderson Barber; son, Steven Wayne Barber; granddaughter, Sherry and great-grandson, Trey; along with 6 sisters and 4 brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Burnette and husband, Vance, Axton, VA, Sue Davidson, Weber City, VA, Pat Taylor and husband, John, Cranks, KY; son, Michael Barber and wife, Joan, Gate City, VA; daughter-in-law, Dottie Barber, Gate City, VA; brother, Frank Strong, Gate City, VA; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Christian Life Center, 2401 N. John B. Dennis Highway, Kingsport, TN 37660. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Barker officiating. Music will be provided by her church family.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Cleek Family Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017. Tim Nelson, Nathan Barber, Jason Barber, John Taylor, Scott Vermillion and Daniel Barber will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the Gate City Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017 to go in procession to the graveside service.
