Barbara Jean Egan

Barbara Jean Egan, 73, of Rye Cove, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Barbara was born in Kingsport, TN, and resided in the Rye Cove Community all of her life.

Barbara attended Clinchport Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed sharing her love for the Lord with others.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, mamaw, sister, and friend to so many. She worked many years at the Kingsport Press. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and always made a friend everywhere she went.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father James Kelly Bishop, and her mother Nannie Jane Bishop; sister-in-laws, Wanda Dockery, Joann Egan, and Kathy Egan; brother-in-laws, Lee Egan, Jim Statzer, and Bill Dockery.

Those left to cherish her memory are the love of her life of 62 years, Billy Egan; son, Chris Egan and wife, Brittany; grandson, Ethan Page; sister, Debbie Sloan (William); sister-in-laws, Geneva Williams (Melvin), Shirley Statzer, and Martha Burton; brother-in-law, James Egan; aunts, Wilma Sloan and Lou Tipton; uncles, Guy Tipton and Jack Tipton; special friends, Remi Steadman, The Honaker Family, and Lisa Cowan; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11-1p.m., Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. George Gibson officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Billy Egan, Chris Egan, Ethan Page, and family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
