Dungannon, VA – Lillian Quillin Banner, 91, entered into rest July 5, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born January 5, 1918 to the late J. Ezra Quillin and Luna Stewart Quillin.
To have known Lillian with her sweet smile is to have experienced the Love of God. She was known by all as beautiful on the outside, and especially on the inside.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, William Banner; daughter-in-law, Frances C. Banner; sisters, Naomi Q. Salling, Sally Q. Taylor, Ruth Q. Owens, Helen Q. Bowen and Irene Q. Armbrister; brothers, Ike Quillin, Kermit Quillin, Cecil Quillin, Eugene (Cotton) Quillin.
Survivors include her son, Billy Wolfe Banner; special niece, Jerri Carter and husband, Don; grandson, Phillip Shaun Banner and wife, Lisa; two great grandchildren, John William Banner, Sarah Katelyn Banner; many other special nieces and nephews, Sue Vaughn, Frances Mullins, Joy Davidson, Pam McMurray, Barbara Edwards, Jane Harrison, Crockett Taylor, Russell Owens, Wayne Armbrister, Martin Quillen, Debbie Spivey and Fred Quillen; sisters-in-law, Nina Quillin and Barbara Quillin; brother-in-law, Elliott Armbrister.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the Dungannon United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Blair and Dr. Todd Cassell officiating. Music will be provided by her great niece, Jana Wilson.
Burial will follow the service at the Banner Family Cemetery, Dungannon, VA.
Pallbearers will be Perry Quillen, Eugene Burton, Crockett Taylor, Russell Owens, Brad Bowen, and Wayne Armbrister.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Carter, Darrell McMurray, Kenneth Edwards, Chris Davidson and Bobby Estepp.
Lillian's family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of the Brian Center for their love and care, and to her many friends there as well, especially her dear friend, Alma Bowen.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to Dungannon United Methodist Church or Community Mission Building, P.O. Box 374, Dungannon, VA 24245.
