Virginia Alice Bowen Baker, 83, Duffield, VA passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Ridgecrest Manor, Duffield, VA.
Mrs. Baker was born in Scott County, VA on August 9, 1929 to Clarence and Della Miller Bowen.
In addition to his parents, her husband, James "Roe" Baker; Jr.; son, Ronnie Paul Baker; infant daughter, Debbie Sue Baker; and sister, Gladys Baker preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Gary Baker and wife, Sue, Big Stone Gap, VA; grandson, Jessee Baker and wife, Destiny, Big Stone Gap, VA; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Shinpaugh and Jackson Creed Baker, Big Stone Gap, VA; sisters, Faye Calton, Duffield, VA, Sally McDavid, Duffield, VA, Molly Calton and husband, Willard, Wise, VA, Martha Bowen and husband, Ray Bowen, Jr., Mount Carmel, TN, Ruth Vaughn and husband, Bruce, Duffield, VA, and Jean Bowen; along with several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Lonnie Townsend officiating. Kaylors Chapel will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Baker Cemetery on Cliff Mountain Way Road, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield for all their love and support over the last 4 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family also requests those who wish to make donations to a charity or church of their choice.
