David Wayne Baker, 63 of Ft. Blackmore, VA, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Indian Path Medical Center.
David was born in Scott County, VA on May 25, 1952 to the late Roy Swanson Baker and Lola Marie Dooley Baker.
He was preceded in death by his sister Faye Owens.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Barbara Deloris Baker, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughters, Tracy Begley, Dungannon, VA, Melonie Castle, Rocksboro, NC; sons, Todd Baker, Gate City, VA, David Wayne Baker, Jr., South Carolina; grandchildren, Conner Begley, Cole Begley, Brianna, Justin, and Caleb Castle, Brett Baker, and other grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. , with Rev. Terry Rhoton and Rev. Raymond Summey officiating. Pine Grove Harmony will be providing the music.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Carter Cemetery, Stoney Creek, with military rites conducted by The American Legion, Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA, assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
