George Russell Austin, 61, Duffield, VA passed away, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Austin was born in Sullivan County, TN on May 24, 1953 to the late William R. and Beda Rose Austin. He was retired from Eastman Chemical Corp. after 37 years of service. He attended Red Hill Memorial Church in Pattonsville, VA, where he served as a trustee.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Austin of Duffield, VA; son, Jonathan Austin and wife, Linda, Blackwater, VA, sister; Patricia Bloomer and husband, Don, Duffield, VA; brothers, Denny Austin and wife, Sara, Gate City, VA, Michael Austin and wife, Karen, Gate City, VA, Frankie Austin and wife, Vanessa, Duffield, VA, Earl Austin and wife, Joyce, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Clayton, Carter and Claire Austin; along with special nieces and nephews, Amanda Tate and Andy, Keith and Melany Austin, Misty and Brandon Hill, Christopher Austin, Justin Austin, Kristen Austin, Amy Dingus and Ronnie and April Davis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gat City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Red Hill Memorial Church, Pattonsville, VA with the Rev. Chuck Grimm, Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Rev. Jackie Frazier officiating. The Red Hill Memorial Choir will provide the music. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Austin/ Frazier Cemetery, Devils Race Path, Duffield, VA. The Men of the church will serve as pallbearers.
