Roxie Bell Dockery Ashworth, 83, born March 13, 1933 passed away, Monday, May 9, 2016 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She has joined her Lord and her beloved Roy whom she has missed every day since his passing.
Roxie was a lifelong resident of Scott County, VA.
She retired from the Scott County School System. She was a member of Pendleton’s Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Roxie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Roy Ashworth; parents, Warner and Maude (Hensley) Dockery; brother Darrell Dockery; an infant sister; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annie Ashworth, Juanita and Odker Wallen, Mabel and Charles Tipton, and Doris Dockery.
Roxie is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Matthew Faulkner; her brother, Odas Dockery; sisters-in-law, Vivian Dockery, Sandra (Glen) Poore, Carolyn Malone, Lena (Ray) Frazier, Billie (Donnie) Stewart; along with several nieces and nephews, and special family, Otis and Debbie Dockery, Jennifer, Dustin, Chloe, Samantha, Seth, Asher, Logan, Larry and Teresa Lane, Jennifer, Jacob, Courtney, Kara, Beth, Reggie, Becky, Micah, Matthew, Lisa, Emma, Addison, Brooke, Sandra, Gwenda, and Lucas; her lifelong friends, Lakie, Jewell, Judy, Bobbie Jo, Gearldine, Doris, Shelby, Joyce, and many others she loved very much.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Sanders officiating. A eulogy will be given by Brother Russell Sanders. Larry and Teresa Lane, Bobbie and Russell Sanders, Kevin and Missy Sanders, and Otis Lawson will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Keith Wallen, Mike Lane, Otis Dockery, Jr., Tony Dingus, Larry Lane, David Dockery, Richard Sanders, and Dustin McDavid will serve as pallbearers. Stanford Presley, Michael, Larry, and Tony Tipton, Rickey and Stephen Stewart, Seth Fugate, Rickey Dockery, and Dwain Dingus will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
