Delmar Carlos Ashworth, 57 of Mt. Carmel, TN, and formerly of Yuma, VA passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his residence in Mt. Carmel.
Mr. Ashworth was born in Scott County, VA on April 18, 1954, the son of the late Howard Ellis Ashworth and Hazel Marie Dingus Ashworth. He was employed as a bailer operator with J.P. Stevens.
Surviving is his son, Travis Ashworth, Bloomingdale; granddaughter, Samantha Ashworth, Bloomingdale; fiancée, Connie Shepard, Greeneville, TN; sister, Shirley Lane and husband, James, Yuma, VA; brother, Sherle Ashworth and wife, Amie, Pauldling, OH; nieces, Melissa Hanankratt, Donna Lane Ramey, and Lora Castle; nephew, Norman Ashworth; great nieces, Carrie Catron, Emily Salyer, McKenzie Hanankratt; very special great niece, Tanya Salyer; great nephews, Johnathon Hanankratt, Neil Hanankratt, and Roger Stinson; several aunts and uncles; special uncle, Eugene Dingus; and very special friends who he loved spending time with, Kenny Kerr and Randy Sluss; children of his fiancee, Jeannie and Doug Carter, Donald and Deanna Shepard and grandchildren, Cody, Tucker, and Bo.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Hall officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Carter Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, VA. Kenny Kerr, Justin Darnell, Adam Tipton, Billy Salyer, Doug Carter, and Donald Shepard will serve as pallbearers. David Darnell, John Ferguson, Larry Tipton, Roger McClellan, Randy Sluss, and Mack Edwards will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
