Carroll (Carol) Parker Ashworth, 77, RyeCove, VA went to be with the Lord, Friday, November 18, 2016 at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law.
Carol was born in Scott County, VA on July 24, 1939. He was the son of the late Rev. Willie and Sallie (Starnes) Ashworth.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by Cox Mills Machinery for several years before opening his own Auto Repair Shop from which he retired.
In addition to his parents; his son, Gregory Ashworth, Sr.; and the mother of his children, Janice Culbertson Ashworth preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Begley and husband, Billy, Duffield, VA; granddaughter, Chelsea Begley; grandson, Gregory Ashworth, Jr.; a great grandson, Ezruh Alan Ashworth, expected in December 2016; sisters, Wilma “Sis” Ashworth, Shirley Ashworth, and Katie Ashworth; brother, Bill Ashworth and wife, Jeanelle; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Terry Begley officiating. April Baldwin and Tim Baldwin will provide the music.
Military Graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post # 265, Gate City, VA, assisted by members of the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2016 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Jimmy Hillman, Tucker Hillman, Riley Hillman, Michael Riggs, Greg Ashworth, and Timothy “Ott” Sawyer will serve as pallbearers. Johnny Snodgrass, Glen Laforce, Clarence Cassell, Danny Kerns, and Billy Egan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to convey a special thank you to the staff of Caris Health for all the respect and care given to their Daddy.
