Mary Ella Wells Arnold, 83, Gate City, VA passed away, Thursday, June 4, 2015 at NOVA Health and Rehab, Weber City, VA.
Mary Ella was born in Scott County, VA on August 17, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Rev. Mitchell and Alice Rhoton Sloan.
In addition her parents, her first husband, L.C. Wells; son, Larry Cecil Wells; second husband, John C. Arnold; and step-son, John C. Arnold, Jr. preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Rick Wells and wife, Lisa, Gate City, VA; step daughter, Jane Roberts; grandchildren, Daniel Wells and wife, Amanda, Gate City, VA and Whitney Kilgore, Gate City, VA; great grandchildren, Gabriel Malachi Kilgore, Izabella McKenzie Kilgore, and Noah Jordan Wells; siblings, Opal S. McClain, Kingsport, TN, Virginia Clendenin, East Carters Valley, Juanita Gilliam and husband, Frank, East Carters Valley, Shirley Shelton and husband, John, East Carters Valley, Olen Sloan, Duffield, VA, Richard Sloan and wife, Evelyn, Duffield, VA, Wilma Jones, Weber City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Elder Allen Hensley and Elder Frank Gilliam officiating. Patsy Hensley will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to give thanks to her special caregiver, Linda Clark for her love and care of Mary.
