Paul Argoe

Paul David Argoe, loving husband and father went to be with Jesus on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
Mr. Argoe received his education at Jefferson High School, Tampa, FL and South Eastern University and Florida Southern University, Lakeland, FL.
He retired in 1999 after completing 40.5 years of teaching in the Scott County School System. He was an accomplished guitarist and vocalist. Mr. and Mrs. Argoe were blessed to be able to conduct 25 years of Glee Club ending each performance with the song, “Everybody Ought to Know Who Jesus Is.”
Mr. Argoe pastored Gate City First Assembly of God Church for 56 years. He was a Royal Ranger Chaplain and also served as historian for the Appalachian District Frontiersman Camping Fellowship.
He was the eldest son of Carl Hampton and Sadie K Buff Argoe, born in Columbia, SC on October 15, 1933.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Stone Argoe, whom he met at SEU and married the night of graduation, May 31, 1955. He is also survived by his daughter, Joanna Argoe Spicer and husband, Tim; grandsons, Jedediah Spicer and fiance, Amber Cleek, and Caleb Spicer; sister, Patricia Johnson; brothers, Carlton Argoe and wife, Barbara and Roger Argoe and wife, Cathleen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Tim Spicer officiating. A eulogy will be given by his daughter, Joanna Spicer. His wife, Dorothy Argoe will provide piano music and The First Assembly of God Praise Team will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, VA with Jeff Casteel officiating. Jedediah Spicer, Caleb Spicer, Roger Morrison, Jeff Spicer, Jim Sturgill, Tommy Gilliam, and Charles Green will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to The First Assembly of God, 184 Fir Street, Gate City, VA 24251.
