Eula Belle Alvis, 101, of Weber City, VA passed away May 31, 2013 at Brookhaven Nursing Home. Mrs. Alvis was born in Fontana, NC on February 14, 1912 to James and Lena Lindsey Smart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Newton E. Alvis, sons; Newton R. Alvis and Jackie E. Alvis; grandson, Rick Alvis; and brother; Roscoe Smart.
Mrs. Alvis is survived by her daughter, Eloise Brady of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Jim Brady and wife Patsy of Kingsport, TN; Donna Alvis of Kingsport, TN, Kim Alvis of Kingsport, TN, Tammy Alvis of Kingsport, TN, Dale Alvis of OK, and Robin Alvis of OK; and great granddaughter, Shandelle Page of Johnson City, TN.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home. The funeral service will he held at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Tiger Brooks and Reverend Wayne Baker officiating. Paige Brooks will provide the music.
The graveside service for Mrs. Alvis will be held Sunday June 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Glencoe Cemetery in Big Stone Gap, VA. The family will meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
