Mrs. Laura Davidson Alley, 75, Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA.
Mrs. Alley was born in Scott County, VA on September 1, 1933 to the late Robert Desha Davidson and Lakie Davidson Bray.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert (Joe) Alley, Sr., a daughter, Brenda Fields and her brother, Elmer Guy Davidson.
Surviving are her daughters, Ruby McDavid and husband, Donald, Duffield, VA, Rita Dockery and husband, Darryl, Gate City, VA and Jewell Dockery and husband, Freddie, Dungannon, VA, her son, Gilbert (Joey) Alley, Gate City, VA, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, sister, Charlotte Alley, Melvindale, MI, and aunt, Marie Fluce, Kingsport, TN and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Terry Rhoton and the Rev. Donald McDavid officiating. Durham's Chapel Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the McNew Cemetery in the Stanleytown community of Scott County, VA. Grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
